“The notion that the United States is “polarized” into two conflicting, equally stubborn and extreme camps infects much of the mainstream news coverage and everyday chatter about politics. Washington is “broken.” “Gridlock” is a problem. “No one goes out to dinner with someone on the other side.” Such mealy-mouthed language masks a stark dichotomy: Democrats have to move to the center to get bipartisan support; Republicans have become radicalized and unmovable. This is not “polarization.” It is the authoritarian capture of much of the GOP by a right-wing movement bent on sowing chaos. Turkey, Hungary and other countries with autocratic strongmen are not polarized; democratic forces try their best to prevent their country’s ruin and collapse into total dictatorship. Our political scene, sadly, has come to resemble the global authoritarian assault on democracy. […] The bipartisan border compromise … was sunk by Republicans. Republicans in the House overwhelmingly opposed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, commonly known as the “Bipartisan” Infrastructure Bill (which President Biden modified to get bipartisan support); almost every Republican voted against the Chips Act, they all voted against the Inflation Reduction Act, and some even voted against the Pact Act, which would have helped veterans. House Republicans have launched phony, baseless impeachment hearings. Senate Republicans filibustered reenactment of a key part of the Voting Rights Act, blocked a bipartisan Jan. 6, 2021, commission and overwhelmingly refused to convict four-times-indicted former president Donald Trump. The assertion that hyper-partisanship, chaos and nihilism (e.g., threatening to shut down the government, egging on a default and refusing to even vote on Ukraine aide) is equally divided amounts to an outright fabrication — or utter cluelessness.”
— The radicalization of the Republican Party is not ‘polarization’
hi Mr. Gaiman. My cat died two days ago and I really miss him. I’ve seen pictures of your dogs so I think you might be a dog person so I don’t know if you’ll get this but, I not only miss my cat (Kittywitty), but I also miss the the unconditional love that he gave. I’m scared that I won’t experience that kind of love again and it makes me very lonely. I’m scared of forgetting him, he deserves the world. He wandered into our farm one day and never left and I’m so grateful. He reminds me of you a lot, he carries this wonderful, otherworldly magic. I’ve known him since I was three. Life got less magical, but he never did. You could have the worst day, but then you’d see him and it was suddenly the best day. Anyways, I hope you have a wonderful day. You’re truly amazing and your writing enraptures me.
I’m so sorry about your cat.
I don’t believe that there are cat people and dog people. I had so many cats from 1992 on – they would turn up at our house and never leave. I wrote a story about them, and about one in particular, called “The Price”.
This is Zoe, who was blind, and died in 2010:
This is Princess, who turned up (with kittens, and pregnant with more) in 1992 or 1993 and died in 2013…
One day, maybe, I’ll be ready to have a house full of cats once more. It took me ten years after my dog first died to get another dog though. It never gets easier. It’s always wonderful.
“It never gets easier. It’s always wonderful.”
I wish everyone wanted to feel happy and see it in others.
If you haven’t heard this song from me yet, check it out. Pretty simple concept, but still a favourite of mine four years later.

Seems as though Warner Bros is just completely fine with removing creative works from existence now (First movies, now games).
They even refuse to transfer ownership of Steam game store pages to the original developers who, unsurprisingly, don’t want their games wiped off the map.
Massive red flag for any creatives to steer clear of working with them in the future, if they value the longevity of their work.
I wanted to write this post because the band hasn’t really been active online under the name since 2016/2017, as far as I’ve found. I used to listen to some of their songs back in the day and was excited to hear about their upcoming third album. But only two singles ever ended up releasing from the project, with the official Bandcamp album page admitting “the album is finished, but now it needs a home! Singles from ‘ppl like us’ will be streaming here in the meantime, so check back often.”
They make some fantastic experimental electronic music. The instrumentals can vary in its levels of roughness to the production. However, I found the rugged texture of some synths and beats to really add to the listening experience and overall emotion at moments.
When listening to their music, I am always captivated by the intricate combination of soundscapes from different electronic elements. It’s as if they took the expected ideas that electronic music can provide, and pushed it to its limits (with a personal touch).
One thing that stands out about their music is the way they experiment with different textures and tones. The roughness of some synths and beats adds a gritty and raw quality to their tracks, giving them a distinct personality. It’s fascinating to witness how these seemingly disparate sounds come together harmoniously, creating an immersive listening experience.
Moreover, the varying levels of roughness in their instrumentals contribute to the overall emotion conveyed in their music. At certain moments, the raw power of the rugged synths and beats can evoke a sense of intensity and urgency.
I don’t really know what I tried to gain from writing this. There’s music out there that deserves recognition, and I want to highlight it. The members of this band probably sought their own individual ventures. But what they carried out in that time together is absolutely worth discussing.
I also am desperate for them to finally release the rest of their last album ‘Ppl Like Us‘
Please guys. Anything. I’m begging.
Road 96 is a 2021 video game letting you experience the thrill of hitchhiking across a fictional country in 1996. The journey begins from your goal to escape Petria’s authoritarian regime. You will meet different characters and make choices with potentially drastic consequences while discovering secrets along the way. The way the game unfolds is procedurally generated to a degree. By the end of the game, you will have experienced the journeys of several teenagers. Your choices culminate over time – meaning that your story can change from play-through to play-through. In the two years since, the developers at DigixArt released a new game expanding the world, subtitled “Mile 0.”
Ever since Life is Strange: Before the Storm released in 2017, I felt it should have received the full prequel-sized budget, care, and attention it deserved.
Despite its unique blend of genres and captivating lyrics, this unique video game soundtrack largely went unnoticed in the mainstream music scene.
Nonetheless, it feels necessary to acknowledge the album’s artistic merit. The songs on Music from Before the Storm highlight Daughter’s exceptional talent and ability to evoke raw emotions through their music. From the haunting melodies to the thought-provoking lyrics, each track takes the listener on a journey of introspection and self-discovery.
Coraline is officially 15 years old today!
I'll never forget when it came out on DVD and I first watched it with my brothers at night with the lights turned off. I was of course really freaked out by it, but my oldest brother seemed pretty calm throughout the whole film. He normally didn't get scared easily. But the very next morning, he came downstairs for breakfast and told us he'd had a nightmare about the Beldam running at him screaming.
Do you have any fond memories of first watching Coraline? Any nightmares it gave you? Please share!
I’ve seen this movie more times than any other. Yes, it’s a problem.

JAVELIN is out today. Thank you for listening. I love you.
This album is dedicated to the light of my life, my beloved partner and best friend Evans Richardson, who passed away in April. He was an absolute gem of a person, full of life, love, laughter, curiosity, integrity, and joy. He was one of those rare and beautiful ones you find only once in a lifetime—precious, impeccable, and absolutely exceptional in every way.
I know relationships can be very difficult sometimes, but it’s always worth it to put in the hard work and care for the ones you love, especially the beautiful ones, who are few and far between. If you happen to find that kind of love, hold it close, hold it tight, savor it, tend to it, and give it everything you’ve got, especially in times of trouble. Be kind, be strong, be patient, be forgiving, be vigorous, be wise, and be yourself. Live every day as if it is your last, with fullness and grace, with reverence and love, with gratitude and joy. This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Thank you. I love you. XOS
